Things to Do On Responsible Dog Ownership Day

By December 15, 2020 Uncategorized

Responsible Dog Ownership Day is September 19th. Being a dog owner is a wonderful experience, one that includes both joys and a bit of frustration. However, taking good care of Fido entails much more than tossing him some treats and scratching his ears. Read on as a local Goodyear, AZ vet lists a few things to put on your calendar for this special occasion.

Take A Walk

September can be a great time to walk your canine friend. When the weather cools, take your pooch for a walk at his favorite park or trail. The sunshine and change of scenery will be good for both of you!

Dogs are super playful, which is one of their most adorable traits. Take some time to toss a ball or Frisbee for Fido. This is a great way to help your furry buddy burn off any excess energy he has. It’s also a perfect time to bond with your pet. You may find this is just as fun for you as it is for your pup!

Dental Care

Did you know that dental problems are often overlooked in dogs? Oral health is just as important for dogs as it is for people! Ask your vet for tips on teaching Fido to accept having his teeth brushed. Or, offer your pet some dental-formula treats.

Yard Check

Does Fido have a yard to run and play in? Take a few minutes to inspect it. Make sure you don’t have any toxic plants, such as Sago palms. You’ll also want to address any niches or spots that may be housing spiders, snakes, scorpions, or other critters. If you have a fence, make sure it’s secure.

Schedule A Doctor’s Visit

Has it been a while since Fido has seen his vet? Let this be a reminder to set an appointment. Healthy pups are happy pups!

Does your furry friend obey basic commands, like Sit and Stay? If not, work on Fido’s petucation!

No doggy holiday is complete without some yummy treats. Offer Fido something extra special on this pawesome occasion.

Tail Wags

Being a good dog owner means making sure Fido feels happy, loved, and safe. Pay lots of attention to your canine buddy!
