Kristi Hillebrand, CVT

Office Manager, Certified Veterinary Technician

For Kristi, veterinary medicine is truly a family affair. She’s married to Dr. Matthew Hillebrand! Kristi has worked with animals for many years, and her extensive experience working with all types of pets—and people—continues to serve her well as the manager of Dreaming Summit Animal Hospital!

Raised in Arizona from a young age, Kristi attended Scottsdale Community College to study equine science, then worked at an Arabian horse ranch after graduating and traveled the country showing the magnificent creatures. She’s also toured the state as a Parada Del Sol Rodeo Princess!

It was during Kristi’s time working closely with horses that she fell in love with the veterinary side of the animal care world. She attended Long Technical College for her Veterinary Assistant certification, becoming a CVT in 1994. Two years later, Kristi married Dr. Hillebrand, and the rest is history!

In her spare time, Kristi enjoys playing softball and racquetball, sewing, studying interior design, and spending time with her family. She and Dr. Hillebrand have two grown sons and they’re about to become grandparents! The Hillebrands share their home with three dogs and a rabbit.

Brooke Schroeder

Brooke was raised in North Dakota, where animal care was a part of life ever since her earliest memories. Her early experiences with pets, including horses, made a lasting impression. Now, Brooke gets to spend time around not only animals, but others who love them just as much as she does!
Brooke moved to Arizona in the spring of 2014 to escape the cold North Dakota winters, and it was here that her love for the veterinary field was first sparked. She began working as a receptionist, and then became a Veterinary Assistant. Brooke has been helping animals and their owners in that capacity ever since! She couldn’t be happier to do it as a part of the team here at Dreaming Summit Animal Hospital.
When she’s not at work, Brooke likes spending time with her fiancé, Justin, and their rescued cats and dogs.
Jodi Walls

My love for animals started as a young child with a herd of stuffed animals and a playschool mini veterinary hospital truck and has continued for over 4 decades. I moved to Arizona in 1999 and worked in the non-profit and human medicine field until 2008 when I went back to school and graduated from Kaplan College’s veterinary technician program. In addition to being a technician, I volunteered my time to care for hospitalized veterans’ pets and homes and provided pet sitting services specializing in elderly or ill pets.

I was born in Oklahoma and grew up partially there and in California. During and after high school, I travelled to as many places as I could, before I moved to Arizona from San Francisco.

I currently live with my husband and our cat, Karma, and 3 dogs, Maverick, Sadie, and Henry. In my spare time, you will find me in my art studio painting, refinishing furniture, working on my house, or shopping for vintage treasures to repurpose.

Monique Martinez

Monique was raised in Arizona; and animals have always been a huge part of her life. At an early age, she was taught to view all animals as family members and respect each one that she meets. Her first pet was a chihuahua mix named Molly that her family rescued. Monique won Molly’s affection when she was just 6 years old. She has wanted to be in the veterinary field as long as she can remember. In 2019 she finally began her career as a receptionist with our care team.

When Monique is not at work, she may be found playing with her two cats, Buddy and Rowley. She enjoys spending time with her significant other and family; or settling in to read a good book.

Monique believes that working in the veterinary field has greatly improved her life. She loves going to work each day and meeting new clients and their pets!

Bettie Mallins

Bettie has a love for all animals, but cats hold a special place in her heart. She has 4 cats of her own Snow, Dot, Bambi and Poppy, as well as her family dog Olive who is a German Shepard. She loves to spend her time relaxing with her cats, drawing, painting, playing the violin, traveling when she can, and spending time with her family.

She graduated from Valley Vista High School in 2021 in the top 10% of her class. She obtained her title of being an official Veterinary Assistant while attending and completing the West Mec program that same year. She will be continuing her education at Estrella Mountain Community College with a presidential scholarship, then advancing onto the University of Arizona to major in Veterinary Science after obtaining her Associates degree. Her ultimate goal is to earn her Doctorate degree and become a Veterinarian.

Bettie is a native of Arizona. Born in Sun City and has lived in Surprise, Waddell and now Litchfield Park. She began her time at the Dreaming Summit by externing as a Veterinary Assistant and now having the opportunity of working part-time as a receptionist while attending school. She is grateful to be working in such a positive environment with her co-workers and gaining more experience in the field while having the ability to impact the lives of others.

Amy Brown, CVT

Certified Veterinary Technician

Amy can’t remember a time when she didn’t adore everything about animals. She’s been caring for pets ever since she was a little girl, and that passion simply never let up. For Amy, a career spent working hands-on with the earth’s creatures as a member of the veterinary profession simply made sense!
Amy is originally from Flint, Michigan and first entered the veterinary field in 1998. She became a Certified Veterinary Technician in 2007. Amy says, “Strengthening the bond of humans and animals through client education is what I enjoy the most about my job. There is nothing better than sending a pet home with their family!” She can’t wait to continue helping the area’s pets stay happy and healthy for years to come.
When she isn’t at work, Amy enjoys spending time in the great outdoors—mountain biking and camping are two of her favorites. She also loves to exercise via Zumba classes. At home, she and her son, Austin, share their lives with one cat: the appropriately named Ninja Danger Pants.
Rebecca Thaxer

Rebecca had just about every conceivable type of pet as a child, and those early experiences with her beloved companions made a permanent impact on who Rebecca would become. She simply can’t imagine doing anything else other than helping animals in the veterinary field!
Rebecca was born and raised in Southern California and has been working with animals for more than 20 years—she’s been a veterinary professional her entire adult life! She recently moved to Arizona to be closer to family, and it wasn’t long before she had joined the team here at Dreaming Summit Animal Hospital. Rebecca can’t wait to meet more and more of the area’s wonderful pet owners and their adorable companions.
In her spare time, Rebecca likes exploring the lovely outdoors of Arizona and spending time with her family. She and her husband have two beautiful girls, both of whom are already just as big of animal-lovers as their mother.
Olivia Manougian

Olivia’s passion for working with animals started when she got her first pug at the age of 7. She has worked with all types of animals including livestock, pocket pets and small animals. She strives to help those in need. Olivia decided to work with small animals after graduating with an associate’s degree in Applied Animal Science from the University of New Hampshire in 2017. And since then she has devoted her life to the well-being of animals.

Olivia grew up on the coast in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. She was a veterinary technician at a small animal hospital for 6 years. She also volunteered at a non-profit animal shelter working as an adoption coordinator. Olivia helped adopt out hundreds of dogs and cats that came all the way from Mississippi. Her fun and quirky outlook on life makes her an out-going technician.

During her free time, Olivia likes to spend her days exploring, swimming, going to local shops and hanging out with her pug “Olive Oyl”. She moved to Buckeye, Arizona in May 2020 and quickly found her calling here at Dreaming Summit Animal Hospital. She is now perusing her skills and dreams here in Arizona.

Jade Soto

Born and raised in Arizona, Jade has been an animal lover her entire life. While she loves all creatures, especially hippos, she is especially passionate about every patient she cares for. She knew from an early age she wanted to work in the veterinary field. After high school, she walked into her local animal hospital and asked for a job, saying she would do anything she was asked.

Over a decade later, through various practices, Jade brings her knowledge and experience to Dreaming Summit Animal Hospital. But that is not all, she also brings her quick wit and fun and sassy personality to the family.

When she is not at work Jade enjoys watching movies, hiking, and reading. She loves to have fun with her friends and family, always the life of the party. Of course she also has her own wild bunch of dogs she loves spending time with.

Natalie Steinman

Veterinary Assistant

Natalie has always thought of pets as integral parts of the family, and she knew she wanted to give them the care and attention that’s deserving of that status. When she attended a dog agility show at the age of nine, her mind was made up: Natalie wanted to devote herself to animal care and become a veterinary professional! She’s proud to advance her journey right here at Dreaming Summit Animal Hospital.
Natalie is originally from Avondale, Arizona and first joined the Dreaming Summit Animal Hospital family in early 2019 as a weekend intern. In the future, she plans on attending the University of Arizona to study animal care and move up in the world of veterinary medicine. Natalie hopes to become a veterinarian herself in the future! For now, she’s a Veterinary Assistant and loves soaking up all the knowledge she can from her peers and the clinic’s doctors.
Natalie’s favorite part of her work is the opportunity to use her problem-solving skills for a good cause, and she loves to know that she’s making a real difference in the lives of others.
When she’s not at work, Natalie enjoys playing soccer, drawing—she’s even had people ask her to design their tattoos!—and spending quality time with her friends, family, and pets. At home, she and her family share their lives with two Yellow Labradors: Axel, whose favorite pastime is chasing the red laser pointer, and Daisy, who would prefer to go swimming or play fetch.
